Commissioner of education must consult with experts to assess content, status, student participation rates, and completion rates for 14 specified career and technical education program areas in Minnesota school districts and postsecondary institutions.

Commissioner must examine alignment between secondary and postsecondary education programs, integration of academic and career/technical content, opportunities for secondary students to earn postsecondary credit, and student success in attaining industry credentials or degrees.

Commissioner must submit a report to the legislature and its education policy and finance committees by November 1, 2014, detailing findings on career and technical education programs and student outcomes.

$150,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of education in fiscal year 2015 to conduct the examination and analysis.
