Creates a new licensing framework for self-service storage facility owners to sell insurance to occupants, authorized under Minnesota Statutes chapter 60K.

Licensed self-service storage agents may only offer personal property insurance covering loss or damage to stored items at their facility, either as individual or group policies.

Requires agents to provide written materials disclosing coverage terms, insurer identity, premiums, benefits, exclusions, potential coverage duplication with existing policies, and claim filing procedures.

Prohibits self-service storage agents from advertising themselves as licensed insurers or insurance producers, and requires employee training on insurance provisions.

Effective August 1, 2014, for self-service storage insurance sold on or after that date.
