Requires at least one Metropolitan Council member to have a background and be employed in, or employ others in, an agriculture-related industry.

Applies to the seven-county metropolitan area comprising Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott, and Washington counties.

Effective the day following final enactment and applies to all appointments made on or after that date.

Does not alter existing appointment procedures, including governor appointment, nominating committee review, senate confirmation, or consultation with local legislators.
