Allows a school board to renew an expiring referendum by board action instead of requiring a voter election, if the per pupil amount remains the same as the expiring referendum.

Requires the renewed referendum term to be no longer than the initial term approved by voters.

Mandates the school board adopt a written resolution authorizing renewal after holding a public meeting with testimony, with adoption required by June 15 and effectiveness 60 days later.

Permits renewal no more than two fiscal years before the referendum expires, defined as the last fiscal year in which the referendum generates revenue.

Requires the district to submit the adopted resolution to the commissioner and county auditor by September 1 of the calendar year the levy is to be certified.
