Pending civil actions do not abate due to death or disability of a party if the cause of action survives or continues.

Personal representatives of a deceased party may be substituted as plaintiff and prosecute injury and noninjury causes of action to final judgment.

Wrongful death actions under section 573.02 and other causes of action arising from the same occurrence may be pursued by personal representatives or successors in interest.

All provisions are effective August 1, 2013, and apply to causes of action commenced on or after that date.
