Classifies personal, medical, financial, familial, and locational data collected from metropolitan area transit applicants, users, and customers as private data.

Removes the previous exception that allowed transit applicants' and users' names to be public, making names private data as well.

Allows the Metropolitan Council to share transit customer transaction history and fare card use data with government entities, organizations, school districts, educational institutions, and employers that subsidize or provide fares or passes.

Permits the Council to share transit applicant and customer data with other government entities to prevent unlawful intrusion into government electronic systems or as otherwise provided by law.

Takes effect the day following final enactment.
