Elk River High School's culinary team won first place at the HMEF Sysco ProStart Invitational on March 4, 2014, in Mounds View, competing against ten teams statewide.

Team prepared a three-course meal in one hour consisting of tuna three ways appetizer, coffee-crusted venison and gnocchi entree, and berry cheesecake with orange sabayon dessert.

Elk River students Ethan Lenertz and Tori Morgan received individual honors for knife skills, and eight postsecondary culinary schools offered scholarships to top-placing team members.

The team advanced to the national invitational competition to be held May 3-5 at the Hyatt Regency in Minneapolis.

Senate congratulates the culinary team on their skill and teamwork and directs the Secretary of the Senate to prepare and transmit an enrolled copy of the resolution to the school.
