Amends Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 181.78, to add protections for military veterans regarding inventions or proposals submitted to employers.

Requires employers to make a substantial investment in a veteran employee's invention or proposal within six months of submission, or forfeit all rights and interests in the invention to the employee.

Exempts inventions relating to the employer's existing product line and inventions in which the employer has already made a substantial direct investment from the six-month investment requirement.

Mandates employers notify veteran employees in writing within ten days of submission, including a dated description of the invention or proposal and a copy provided to the employee.

Requires employers to determine whether an invention or proposal will be utilized as soon as practicable and affirmatively surrender rights to the employee if the employer decides not to utilize it.
