Commissioner of agriculture must coordinate a pilot program at the Northeast Regional Corrections Center to train inmates for butcher careers upon release.

Commissioner must facilitate program development and ensure inmates meet applicable food safety and licensure requirements.

Commissioner must consult with the commissioner of employment and economic development, Northeast Regional Corrections Center, and United Food and Commercial Workers during program development.

Commissioner must report on program progress and outcomes to legislative committees with jurisdiction over agriculture, higher education, and public safety no later than February 1, 2017.

Program expires on July 1, 2017.
