Repeals Minnesota Statutes sections 123B.09, subdivision 5a and 123B.095, which required school board member vacancies to be filled by special election.

Revives the previous version of Minnesota Statutes section 123B.09, subdivision 5 effective the day following final enactment.

Removes the requirement for special elections to fill school board vacancies, eliminating mandatory timelines of 120 days to 12 weeks prior to primary elections or concurrent with regularly scheduled elections.

Eliminates provisions requiring public hearings and notification of public officials before appointing candidates to fill vacancies.

Effective the day following final enactment and applies to school board positions that are currently vacant or become vacant on or after that date.
