• School districts must provide free admission to homeless pupils regardless of residency determination, with district of residence established through parent/guardian location or designated by commissioner of education if no other residence can be determined.

• Serving districts are responsible for transporting homeless pupils to their district of residence through the end of the academic school year, and upon request, for the following year as well.

• School boards must include strategies in their comprehensive strategic plans for improving instruction, curriculum, student achievement, and continuity of services for homeless and formerly homeless students.

• Regional Centers of Excellence must provide staff development and training opportunities for school district and charter school homeless liaisons and other staff supporting homeless students.

• An unspecified appropriation from the general fund is allocated to the commissioner of education in fiscal year 2017 to fully fund transportation services for homeless students.
