H.F. 4017 Summary

• Establishes a new special veterans' license plate design for veterans who served in the United States multinational force in Lebanon after August 24, 1982, and before February 26, 1984, with inscription and emblem designated by the commissioners of veterans affairs and public safety.

• Charges a $10 fee per set of veteran's plates, payable only when plates are issued and not in years when validation stickers are issued instead.

• Requires applicants to provide a certified copy of discharge papers indicating character of discharge; allows the commissioner of veterans affairs to certify applicants from allied nations unable to obtain service records.

• Defines "eligible applicant" as someone who served in active military service in United States or allied armed forces in a foreign war, was discharged under honorable conditions (unless otherwise specified), and meets specific plate design eligibility requirements.

• Amendments become effective January 1, 2017.
