Commissioner of Education must inventory existing resources and best practices for swimming instruction in Minnesota public schools, with a report due to education committees by February 1, 2016.

Commissioner of Education must establish a work group including representatives from the Health Department, K-12 physical education teachers, school administrators, nonprofit fitness organizations, public parks and recreation departments, and underserved community members.

Work group must determine and report curriculum, resources, personnel, and other costs needed to make swimming instruction available in all Minnesota public schools by February 1, 2017.

Work group must consider the findings from the initial February 2016 report when preparing its recommendations.

Provision is effective the day following final enactment.
