Schools may require demonstrated level of skill and ability for sports team participation.

Males are prohibited from trying out for or participating on teams established for female students; "sex" is defined as the physical condition determined by chromosomes and identified at birth by anatomy.

Minnesota State High School League must review and conform its rules, guidelines, procedures, and eligibility bylaws to be consistent with these athletic participation requirements.

Public schools must designate restrooms, locker rooms, changing rooms, and shower rooms for exclusive use by either male or female students only.

Schools may provide single-occupancy or faculty facilities as accommodations for special circumstances upon student request, but cannot allow students to use facilities designated for a sex other than the student's own sex.
