Amends Minnesota Statutes section 609.2231, subdivision 3, to add a new paragraph (b) requiring consecutive sentencing for federal prisoners held in county or regional jails.

Persons charged with or convicted of a federal crime and placed in a county or regional jail who are then convicted of assaulting a jail employee must serve that assault sentence consecutive to any other sentence being served.

Applies to assaults that inflict demonstrable bodily harm or involve intentionally throwing or transferring bodily fluids or feces at jail employees.

Effective August 1, 2015, and applies to crimes committed on or after that date.
