Defines "peace officer" as a person licensed under Minnesota Statutes section 626.845, subdivision 1, and actively effecting a lawful arrest or executing other duties imposed by law.

Establishes that physically assaulting a peace officer during the performance of lawful duties is a gross misdemeanor punishable by up to one year imprisonment or $3,000 fine, or both.

Creates a felony offense with up to three years imprisonment or $6,000 fine for assaults that inflict demonstrable bodily harm on a peace officer.

Establishes a separate felony offense for intentionally throwing or transferring bodily fluids or feces at or onto a peace officer, punishable by up to three years imprisonment or $6,000 fine, or both.

Takes effect August 1, 2016, and applies to crimes committed on or after that date.
