S.F. No. 2290 Summary

• Removes the requirement for school districts to annually report reading assessment summary results to the commissioner by July 1, though districts must still identify students not reading at grade level and provide appropriate instruction.

• Eliminates outdated phase-in dates (April 1, 2006 and 2007) for school readiness program biennial plan submissions, requiring all districts to submit plans by April 1 to the commissioner.

• Repeals nine separate statutory provisions and one administrative rule related to redundant reporting requirements for alternative teacher pay, short-term contracts, staff development, early childhood family education, community education, and career and technical education programs.

• All changes are effective July 1, 2016.
