Allows pharmacists to dispense up to a 90-day supply of prescription drugs after a patient has obtained an initial 30-day supply and returns for a refill.

Requires that the total quantity dispensed does not exceed the total remaining refills authorized by the prescriber and that the pharmacist exercise professional judgment.

Waives the initial 30-day supply requirement if the prescription has previously been filled with a 90-day supply.

Prohibits pharmacists from exceeding prescribed dosage units if the prescriber specifies medical necessity restrictions on the prescription.

Does not apply to controlled substances as defined in Minnesota Statutes section 152.01, subdivision 4.
