Owners of ground-mounted solar sites with generating capacity exceeding 40 kilowatts may voluntarily implement site management practices that provide native perennial vegetation and foraging habitat for gamebirds, songbirds, and pollinators

Solar site owners shall use native plant species and seed mixes following the Department of Natural Resources "Prairie Establishment & Maintenance Technical Guidance for Solar Projects" when establishing perennial vegetation and beneficial foraging habitat

Solar site owners may only claim beneficial habitat benefits if the site adheres to guidance from the Board of Water and Soil Resources pollinator plan or other gamebird, songbird, or pollinator foraging-friendly vegetation standards established by that board

Site owners claiming beneficial habitat status must make their vegetation management plan available to the public and provide a copy to a Minnesota nonprofit solar industry trade association
