Commissioner of Agriculture must award cost-share grants to Minnesota farmers retrofitting tractors built before 1987 with rollover protective structures meeting SAE International standard J2194.

Grants cover up to 70 percent of documented costs for purchase, shipping, and installation, with commissioner authority to increase grants if necessary to limit farmer's out-of-pocket cost to no more than $500 per tractor.

Commissioner may spend up to 20 percent of total program dollars annually for promotion and administration of the program.

Commissioner must solicit contributions from nonstate sources to supplement state appropriations, with such funds appropriated to the commissioner for program purposes.

$1,000,000 appropriated from general fund in fiscal year 2017 to the commissioner of agriculture for the program, which expires June 30, 2019.
