Requires any solar energy generation facility installed at a school after January 1, 2017, to comply with the 2017 National Electric Code, section 690.12.

Adds solar panel fire safety compliance as an allowable health and safety capital project expenditure for school districts.

Effective date of July 1, 2016, for both amendments to Minnesota Statutes section 123B.57 and Laws 2015, First Special Session chapter 3, article 6, section 3, subdivision 6.

School districts may not include generator emission compliance expenses in health and safety capital projects for fiscal years 2014 through 2017 unless they reduce spending on other qualified health and safety projects by the same amount.
