• First three consecutive years of a teacher's initial teaching experience in Minnesota constitutes probationary period in a single district; probationary period in subsequent districts is one year.

• School boards must conduct written evaluations of probationary teachers at least three times per school year with first evaluation within 90 days of teaching service.

• Probationary teachers must complete at least 120 days of teaching service each year, excluding parent-teacher conferences, workshops, staff development, and absences.

• Teachers electing continuing contracts after probationary period must have terms and conditions based on length of school calendar or extended school calendar under section 120A.415.

• School boards and exclusive representatives of school principals may negotiate probationary periods of up to two years for licensed teachers promoted internally to principal or assistant principal positions, effective for 2016-2017 school year and later.
