Award one grant to an eligible organization serving girls of color in Ramsey County and one grant to an eligible organization in one or more counties in greater Minnesota.

Grant funds must support girls of color in STEM through either best practices opportunities (mentorship, internship, apprenticeship) or financial assistance for services including child care, transportation, and housing.

Ramsey County grant recipient must develop a model program replicable by other Twin Cities metropolitan area counties; greater Minnesota grant recipient must develop a model replicable by other greater Minnesota counties.

Commissioner of Education must submit a written report to legislative education committees by January 15, 2019, detailing program design, activities, expenditures, and outcomes disaggregated by race, income, grade level, and other demographic categories.

Appropriates unspecified amount from general fund for fiscal year 2017 as a one-time appropriation available until expended; program effective July 1, 2016.
