Health carriers with five or fewer covered individuals not in the single risk pool may nonrenew conversion individual health plans issued before January 1, 2014.

Carriers must notify the state insurance commissioner at least 180 days before the nonrenewal effective date and provide a complete list of affected policyholders and a copy of the proposed notice.

Carriers must provide written notice to policyholders at least 120 days before the nonrenewal effective date, including information on obtaining individual or family health coverage and state insurance regulator contact information.

Conversion policies issued before January 1, 2014 remain renewable at the individual's option if not covered under another qualified plan, with rate revisions applying equally to all similar policies.

The law takes effect the day following final enactment and applies to policies to be renewed on or after that date.
