Commissioner of health must develop a suicide prevention training program for firefighters, law enforcement, and emergency medical services (EMS) personnel in consultation with relevant professional associations and mental health experts.

Training program shall include materials on recognizing occupational trauma impacts, the relationship between psychological distress and suicide risk, and evidence-based behavioral health assistance strategies.

Commissioner must compile a resource list including behavioral health specialists, peer support programs, and social supports for affected personnel.

$395,000 appropriated from the general fund in fiscal year 2017 to establish the suicide prevention training program, with funds available until expended.
