$500,000 appropriated from the general fund in fiscal year 2017 to the commissioner of commerce for a statewide education and outreach campaign on financial fraud and exploitation.

Campaign targets seniors (age 60+), vulnerable adults as defined in Minnesota Statutes section 626.5572 subdivision 21, and their caregivers.

Campaign must include dissemination of information through television, print, or other media; training and outreach to senior living facilities; and creation of a senior fraud toolkit.

Commissioner of commerce must report by January 15, 2017, to relevant house and senate commerce committees on campaign results and recommendations for ongoing fraud prevention efforts.

This is a one-time appropriation.
