Appropriates $500,000 from the general fund in fiscal year 2017 to the University of Minnesota Board of Regents for the Center for Applied Research and Educational Improvement (CAREI)

Funds cover personnel and technology costs for CAREI to establish collaboration and communication among state and local policy makers, educators, researchers, evaluators, and education stakeholders

Enables CAREI to conduct research, evaluation, and assessment services to identify effective programs and services for improving student outcomes

Requires sharing of results and information among participating education entities and organizations

Effective for fiscal year 2017
