Expands the definition of "public adjuster" under Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 72B.02, subdivision 6 to include persons who negotiate on behalf of an insured or urge/encourage an insured to file a claim for loss or damages.

Adds a new fourth category defining as public adjusters any person engaged in, employed by, or affiliated with a repair business who offers to negotiate or negotiates claims or encourages insureds to file claims for first-party losses or damages.

Applies the expanded definition to first-party claims arising under insurance contracts that insure real or personal property of the insured.

Requires compensation or other thing of value to be involved for the public adjuster definition to apply.
