Updates Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 13.32, subdivision 5 to change the effective date of federal directory information regulations from January 1, 2007 to January 3, 2012

Defines directory information as that designated under United States Code, title 20, section 1232g and Code of Federal Regulations, title 34, section 99.37, which is public data to the extent required by federal law

Requires educational agencies and institutions to notify parents and students of their right to refuse designation of any or all student data as directory information

Allows notification to parents and students through any means reasonably likely to inform them of their opt-out rights

Effective the day following final enactment
