SF 3432 Summary

• Appropriates $10,000,000 for state park and recreation area projects including a new visitor center and mine shaft rehabilitation at Lake Vermilion-Soudan Underground Mine State Park, mountain biking trails and campground improvements at Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area, Fort Snelling Upper Bluff development, and beach picnic area redevelopment at William O'Brien State Park.

• Appropriates $17,720,000 for 11 specific state trail projects including the Casey Jones Trail ($1,250,000), Chester Woods Trail ($2,250,000), Gitchi-Gami Trail ($3,130,000), Glacial Lakes Trail ($2,590,000), and seven other regional trail connections and extensions across Minnesota.

• Allows the commissioner of natural resources to reallocate funding for any project not ready to proceed to other state park, recreation area, or trail projects, with required notification to legislative committees and affected district legislators.

• Authorizes the commissioner of management and budget to sell and issue up to $27,720,000 in state bonds to fund the appropriations, following procedures in Minnesota Statutes sections 16A.631 to 16A.675 and the Minnesota Constitution.

• Takes effect the day following final enactment.
