Commissioner of Employment and Economic Development shall implement an energy sector jobs initiative to maximize job opportunities in the energy sector.

Commissioner must analyze energy sector job demand over the next ten years, identify training needs, document current minority employment levels, and develop a plan to increase minority participation in consultation with the Minnesota Energy Center.

Commissioner shall partner with a previously-funded outside organization to conduct a feasibility analysis for a multipurpose energy sector training facility located within one-half mile of current or planned regional transit routes in a designated federal Promise Zone.

An unspecified amount from the workforce development fund is appropriated for fiscal year 2017 to implement the energy sector jobs initiative.
