Appropriates $200,000 in fiscal year 2017 from the general fund to the commissioner of education for a one-year pilot program.

Grant provided to EdVisions Schools as fiscal agent for Center for School Change to assist diverse and minority Minnesota high school students in pursuing teaching careers.

Program focuses on augmenting student support services and strengthening relationships between high schools and colleges/universities to optimize dual enrollment options in teacher preparation courses.

Selects four to six public or charter high schools in greater Minnesota and Twin Cities metropolitan areas with strong commitment to program objectives to participate in the pilot.

This is a onetime appropriation designated for designing, implementing, and reporting on pilot program progress.
