State fire marshal shall inspect every public and charter school facility used for educational purposes once every three years, including two follow-up inspections or on-site consultations.

School districts shall be charged $0.014 per square foot for each school building inspected, with additional follow-up inspections charged at $0.005 per square foot.

Inspections shall be funded from the fire safety account established under section 297I.06, removing the separate fee structure previously applied to charter schools.

Repeals the prior statute that charged charter schools a flat $100 per building with $50 for additional follow-ups, replacing it with the per-square-foot fee structure applied uniformly to all public and charter schools.

Authorizes the state fire marshal to conduct school inspections as an exception to the advisory committee funding requirement process for other fire safety programs.
