Amends Minnesota Statutes section 609.66, subdivision 1g, regarding felony possession of dangerous weapons in courthouse complexes and state Capitol buildings.

Permits individuals with pistol permits under section 624.714 to carry firearms in courthouse complexes and Capitol Area state buildings without requiring advance notice to the sheriff or commissioner of public safety.

Establishes that issuance of a permit to carry automatically constitutes notification of the commissioner of public safety as required under the statute.

Maintains criminal penalties of up to five years imprisonment or $10,000 fine for unlawful possession of dangerous weapons, ammunition, or explosives in these locations.

Preserves existing exceptions for licensed peace officers, military personnel, and those with express consent from appropriate authorities.
