Enlisted in Minnesota Army National Guard at age 17 as a junior in high school and became the first of over 100 cousins to serve in the armed forces, following his grandfather's example of military service

Deployed during Operation Iraqi Freedom (2007-2008) and Operation New Dawn (2011-2012), and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors from Metropolitan State University in 2014

Led the Asian American Pacific Islander Special Emphasis Council as adviser, building relationships between the Minnesota National Guard and Asian-Pacific communities to promote diversity within the guard

Secretary of the Senate directed to prepare and transmit an enrolled copy of the resolution authenticated by the Secretary and Chair of Senate Rules and Administration Committee to Warrant Officer Candidate Alan Fred Lee
