Medical assistance covers services provided by certified community medical response emergency medical technicians (CEMTs) under Minnesota Statutes section 144E.275, subdivision 7.

CEMTs may provide postdischarge visits after hospital or skilled nursing facility discharge when ordered by a treating physician, including discharge order reminders, vital sign reporting, medication access confirmation, food access confirmation, and home hazard identification.

CEMTs may provide safety evaluation visits to individuals with repeat ambulance calls due to falls, recent nursing home discharge, or those identified as at-risk for nursing home placement, when ordered by a primary care provider and including medication access confirmation, food access confirmation, and home hazard identification.

CEMTs are paid at $9.75 per 15-minute increment for services rendered.

Safety evaluation visits and postdischarge visits cannot be billed on the same day for the same individual.
