HF1326 Summary

• Establishes enhanced asthma care services benefit for medical assistance covering children under 21 with poorly controlled asthma who have received emergency department care or hospitalization for asthma in the past year.

• Covers home visits by National Environmental Health Association-credentialed healthy homes specialists limited to two visits through age 20, with additional visits allowed if child moves, new triggers enter home, or new allergies are identified.

• Covers allergen-reducing products recommended by health professionals including mattress/pillow encasements, HEPA vacuums, dehumidifiers, air cleaners, pest control systems, damp mopping systems, hospital-grade mattresses, and furnace filters for homeowners.

• Adds allergen-reducing products to the list of durable medical equipment covered through competitive bidding in medical assistance program.

• Effective January 1, 2018, or upon federal approval, whichever is later.
