$4,500,000 appropriated from the general fund in fiscal year 2018 to the Metropolitan Council for financial assistance to replacement service providers for the suburb-to-suburb transit demonstration project.

Replacement service providers must collectively identify one or more demonstration projects and submit allocation notifications to the Metropolitan Council, which must allocate funds as directed by the providers.

Evaluation criteria for demonstration projects include: scope of service offering improvements, integration with transit facilities and major business/retail/suburban centers, route complementarity with existing transit service, and employment density along proposed routes.

Metropolitan Council is prohibited from retaining any portion of the appropriated funds.
