Appropriates $1,000,000 in 2018 and $1,000,000 in 2019 from the arts and cultural heritage fund to the Minnesota Humanities Center for a competitive grants program.

Grants awarded to towns, statutory or home rule charter cities of the third or fourth class, or nonprofit organizations in urban neighborhoods to preserve and expand community cultural and historical identity.

Funded projects must empower local communities to shape their community's future and allow them to preserve, educate about, and expand their neighborhood or community identity.

Minnesota Humanities Center may develop additional preferences and eligibility criteria for grantees, but funding must be available for capacity building, rent or building costs, and program development and implementation.
