Commissioner of Education must conduct an annual review of a representative sample of school district and charter school curricula in all subject areas included in the statewide testing and reporting system to ensure alignment with statewide standards.

Sample of school districts reviewed must include districts of varied size and geographic region, with districts and charter schools providing curriculum information in a format determined by the commissioner.

Commissioner must provide assistance upon request to any school district or charter school to modify curricula that are not aligned to statewide standards.

Commissioner must submit an annual report on review findings and assistance provided to chairs and ranking minority members of legislative committees with K-12 education jurisdiction by January 15 of each year.

Effective the day following final enactment.
