Residential contractors providing home repair or improvement services are prohibited from advertising or promising to pay insurance deductibles as an inducement to purchase their services.

Residential contractors must provide written notification of the deductible prohibition requirements with their initial estimate to clients.

Adjusters or insurers must provide written notification of the deductible prohibition requirements in the initial estimate relating to insurance claims.

If a residential contractor violates the prohibition, the insurer is not obligated to consider the contractor's estimate.

"Residential contractor" includes residential roofers, residential building contractors, and residential remodelers as defined in Minnesota Statutes section 326B.802.
