• Modifies the definition of "world's best workforce" to focus on five specific goals: kindergarten readiness, third-grade literacy at 90 percent proficiency, closing achievement gaps by 2025 with no group below 85 percent, career and college readiness for all students, and 90 percent high school graduation with no group below 85 percent by 2020.

• Adds "experiential learning" definition to include career exploration through job shadowing, mentoring, internships, apprenticeships, and work-based experiences.

• Requires school districts to measure progress using six performance indicators: academic achievement gaps, rigorous course taking, student performance on comprehensive assessments, graduation rates, career and college readiness, school readiness measurement, and student attendance or other success indicators.

• Changes school board language from "shall" to "must" regarding establishment of advisory committees and site teams, and makes site team establishment optional rather than mandatory.

• Repeals the requirement that districts periodically survey affected constituencies about their connection to and satisfaction with school.
