Landlords of residential buildings with 12 or more units must provide a written lease identifying the specific unit the tenant will occupy before the tenant signs.

Landlords may request the tenant's full name and date of birth on the lease and application, notwithstanding other state law or city ordinance.

Written leases must identify the occupancy date, vacation date, and whether rent is prorated if move-in or move-out occurs on a date other than the first or last day of the month, with this information provided on the first page.

Landlords who fail to provide a required lease are guilty of a petty misdemeanor.

Effective June 1, 2018, for all leases signed on or after that date.
