School districts must screen all students for dyslexia between the beginning of kindergarten and the beginning of grade 2.

School districts must screen any student in grade 2 or higher who is identified as exhibiting characteristics associated with dyslexia.

Districts must use screening tools recommended by the department's dyslexia and literacy specialist.

Districts must annually report to the commissioner by July 1 a summary of screening and identification efforts for dyslexia and convergence insufficiency disorder.

Students identified with dyslexia must be provided alternate instruction under section 125A.56, subdivision 1, with the law effective July 1, 2019.
