Commissioner of human services shall implement a preferred insulin product program by January 1, 2019 using volume purchase procedures.

Program makes insulin and related supplies available to individuals with low incomes who lack prescription drug coverage through medical assistance, MinnesotaCare, or a health plan.

Commissioner shall establish cost-sharing requirements using a sliding scale and make products available statewide through contracts with local health care providers and pharmacies.

Commissioner may limit the number of months an individual can receive insulin and related supplies through the program.

Unspecified amount from the general fund is appropriated in fiscal year 2019 to implement the program.
