Amends Minnesota Statutes section 13.82 to add a new subdivision protecting inactive criminal investigative data as private data upon request of the data subject.

Allows law enforcement agencies to classify investigative data as private if the data were not relevant to case preparation or prosecution and either the subject's privacy interest outweighs public disclosure interest or release would constitute unwarranted invasion of privacy.

Applies retroactively to all data access requests made before, on, or after the effective date and to cases pending or commenced on or after the effective date.

Effective the day following final enactment.
