• Amends Minnesota Statutes section 628.26 to establish statute of limitations for violations of section 626.556, subdivision 6, involving mandated reports of physical abuse, sexual abuse, or substantial child endangerment.

• Allows indictments or complaints to be filed within the later of nine years after the mandated person fails to make the required report, or within three years after the failure to report is discovered by law enforcement authorities.

• Effective date is August 1, 2018, and applies to crimes committed on or after that date and to crimes committed before that date if the limitations period had not expired before August 1, 2018.
