Establishes a new special veterans license plate for recipients of the Air Medal, bearing the inscription "AIR MEDAL VETERAN" and a facsimile of the medal displayed directly below the plate number.

Amends Minnesota Statutes 2016, section 168.123, subdivision 2, to add Air Medal recipients to the existing list of veteran license plate designations.

Makes active duty members of the United States armed forces who are Purple Heart recipients eligible for special license plates, with the commissioner of public safety required to distribute proof of eligibility information to relevant public officials.

Extends special license plate eligibility to National Guard and military reserve members ordered to federally funded state active service under United States Code, title 32, who are recipients of the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, regardless of veteran status.

Effective January 1, 2019, for Air Medal veteran special license plates issued on or after that date.
