Requires students beginning 9th grade in 2011-2012 school year and later to complete one credit in civics during 11th or 12th grade for high school graduation.

Civics credit becomes part of the three and one-half credit social studies requirement, replacing the previous "government and citizenship" subject area.

Maintains all other existing graduation requirements including four language arts credits, three mathematics credits, three science credits, one arts credit, and seven elective credits.

Applies to Minnesota Statutes 2016, section 120B.024, subdivision 1 regarding high school graduation requirements.
