Jurisdictions employing electronic voting systems may prepare blank paper ballots if required ballot information is displayed on a touch screen or other electronic device instead.

Electronic voting systems purchased on or after June 4, 2005 must either accept marked optical scan ballots, create marked optical scan ballots, or create marked paper ballots generated from voter selections on a touch screen displaying a complete ballot.

Multiple ballot formats of electronic voting systems may be used in a jurisdiction without violating voter secrecy rights, provided election judges do not record which ballot format each voter used.

Election judges from precincts using a ballot format generated from touch screens that was used by ten or fewer voters are ineligible to participate in recounts or postelection reviews in those precincts.

Precinct summary statements must be completed and submitted by election judges documenting ballot counts, votes received, undervotes, overvotes, defective ballots, and voter registration numbers.
